BRANCH MANAGER VACANCY
POSITION OVERVIEW
We are seeking a dynamic and results-driven Branch Manager to lead our branch operations, drive profitability, and grow the customer base. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring outstanding customer service, maintaining a well-stocked and visually appealing store, and directly overseeing all fresh produce departments.
KEY RESPONSIBILITY AREAS (KRAs)
1. Staff Management
- Train and ensure all employees are adequately trained according to their job descriptions.
- Ensure employees sign their job descriptions and undergo performance appraisals at three-month intervals and as scheduled.
- Oversee employee discipline, provide counseling, and manage disciplinary procedures when required.
- Enforce a strict zero-tolerance policy regarding breaches of company policies, procedures, and rules.
- Develop and manage staff work schedules.
- Ensure weekly timekeeping and scheduling records are updated by every Tuesday.
2. Sales Promotion
- Monitor customer service standards and implement immediate corrective action when necessary.
- Personally manage orders for key departments such as:
- Bakery
- Takeaway
- Perishables
- Report product scanning issues to the buying department.
- Ensure promotional materials (e.g., posters, flyers) are correctly displayed.
- Make promotional sheets available to customers at the launch of new promotions.
3. Merchandising & Housekeeping
- Maintain a well-stocked store with a proper product assortment at all times.
- Oversee the cleaning and maintenance of all service department equipment.
- Implement proper stock rotation in backup freezers.
- Ensure correct product placement on shelves, including height, gap, and flow consistency.
4. Administration & Sales
- Ensure production records are completed and uploaded daily, verifying order quantities and signing off on accuracy.
- Conduct daily morning inspections with a designated team, including the Branch Manager, Floor Manager, Admin Staff, Supervisors, and Trainee Managers.
- Oversee the correct processing of Goods Received Vouchers (GRVs) to prevent backlog.
- Ensure proper execution of claims procedures.
- Manage waste control documentation, ensuring accurate and timely submission.
- Conduct daily stock takes, provide corrective action plans, and submit feedback to the Regional Manager (RM).
- Monitor daily turnover against budget and track shrinkage, implementing corrective actions as necessary.
- Implement and oversee daily sales targets for the management team.
- Enforce double-checking procedures at Receiving to ensure accuracy.
5. Risk Control, Health, Safety & Environment (SHE)
- Ensure staff compliance with all Health, Safety, and Environmental (SHE) regulations.
- Report security and risk-related incidents to the Regional Manager.
- Conduct routine inspections to ensure compliance with safety standards (e.g., fire points, sharp objects, electrical hazards).
- Report any safety concerns to the Regional Manager and ensure corrective measures are taken.
6. Asset Management
- Oversee the proper use, recording, and maintenance of all company assets.
- Report any asset-related issues to the Regional Manager immediately.
7. General Responsibilities
- Address and resolve employee relations issues, consulting with HR or the Regional Manager as necessary.
- Perform any additional duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIREMENTS
Minimum Education:
- Grade 12 (Matric Certificate)
Experience:
- At least 3 years of supervisory experience in retail or a similar work environment.
