OVERALL AIM AND SUMMARY OF JOB 

Help the company to accomplish its Labour and Strategic objectives by evaluating and improving the effectiveness of operational procedures within the company, labour disputes, disciplinary procedures and governance processes and any internal activities.

KRA’s

      IR Compliance

  • Under guidance of the IR and Legal Manager do preparations, including documentation, when grievances are lodged, when disciplinary hearings are conducted and when labour disputes are referred to the Office of the Labour Commissioner.
  • Assist the IR and Legal Manager in ensuring the relevant laws, e.g. Labour Act, Employment Services Act, Affirmative Action Act, etc. applicable to labour issues are correctly observed in the company.
  • Guide the process to be followed when disciplinary hearings are to be conducted.
  • Guide the process to be followed when grievances are lodged by employees.

      Execution of disciplinary matters

  •  Attending to and preparing suspension letters, disciplinary hearing notices and any other sanction and/or legal documents
  • Initiating disciplinary hearings and enforcing the company rules, procedures and regulations, employed within the company.
  • Conducting grievance and/or counseling meetings between aggrieved employees
  • Ensure all initiators (branch managers or regional managers) are prepared for the disciplinary hearings and have obtained all relevant information in relation to the hearing.

      Administration

  • Keep documents and references on working papers up to date and per the required standard.
  • Liaise working with Labour consultant firm to organize disciplinary hearings.

      General

  • Comply with the Company’s Safety, Health and Environment Regulations.
  • Perform any other duties as reasonably requested or assigned within the IR and Legal Manager.
  • Participates in development, implementation and maintenance of policies, objectives, short-and long-range planning, develops and implements projects and programs to assist in accomplishment of established goals.

     JOB AND PERSON SPECIFICATIONS

    Qualifications

  •      Grade 12;
  •      LLB Law degree and/or relevant degree in Law;

      Experience

  • At least one year experience in labour related matters.
  • Labour experience within the retail industry will be an added advantage.
