OVERALL AIM AND SUMMARY OF THE JOB
The incumbent will manage the portfolio of brands within the defined category and being responsible for selecting and negotiating with approved vendors and placing purchase orders in response to product, materials, services and supply requirements established by various departments within the Company. Implements buying strategies, develops purchasing budgets and co-ordinates distribution.
KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS
- Category Management and Ranging
- Procurement: Manage margins and growth of allocated categories
- Negotiate weekly and monthly cycle and promotional deals.
- Select promotional lines to achieve monthly targets.
- Negotiate in-store activities to enhance customer shopping experiences.
- Manage and Improve margin mix in allocated categories.
JOB AND PERSON SPECIFICATIONS
QUALIFICATIONS
- Grade 12
- A Bachelor’s Degree in Commerce majoring in one or more of the following: Procurement, Marketing, Finance and Communication
EXPERIENCE
- At least 5 years’ experience in store management and buying in the FMCG retail sector.
- Excellent communication skills in written and spoken English.
- A good understanding of financial reporting.
- High ethical standards and the ability to deal with highly confidential matters.
