Job Description:
We are seeking a seasoned Senior Buyer with expertise in international procurement to join our dynamic team. This role is crucial for managing our direct imports from key global markets such as South Africa, China, and Europe. The ideal candidate will be adept in navigating the complexities of customs clearance, duties, and the Asycuda system, and will possess a solid foundation in conducting reliable costing for imports.
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee and manage all aspects of direct import procurement from South Africa, China, and Europe.
- Navigate customs clearance processes efficiently, ensuring compliance with all regulations and duties.
- Utilize the Asycuda system proficiently for all required documentation and processes.
- Conduct accurate and reliable costing for all import activities to ensure financial efficiency and transparency.
- Exhibit proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint, to create reports, presentations, and analyze data.
- Collaborate with the logistics teams to ensure a seamless supply chain and timely delivery of goods.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of market trends, exchange rates, and shipping logistics to optimize procurement strategies.
Qualifications:
- A minimum of 5 years of experience in a procurement role with a focus on international buying and import processes.
- A bachelor’s degree in Finance, Procurement, Supply Chain Management, or a related field is highly preferred.
- Strong understanding of logistics, including transportation, warehousing, and inventory management.
- Excellent analytical skills and the ability to work with complex data and financials.
- Strong negotiation skills and the ability to forge and maintain relationships with international suppliers.
- Effective communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively across departments.
- Proactive, detail-oriented, and capable of managing multiple projects simultaneously in a fast-paced environment.
