OVERALL AIM AND SUMMARY OF JOB
Oversee the management of the branches reporting to the incumbent (RM) to ensure profitability and a growth of the customer base by continuously providing the effective supply of the right stock at competitive prices in a clean, fresh and attractive environment to ensure a pleasant customer experience.
KRA’s
Administration
- Draw up the annual business plan and budget for the region in consultation with the BMs and Executive Operations.
- Check Turnover vs Budget and Shrinkage of branches daily and take immediate corrective action as required, but at least monthly or more frequently if required.
- Analyze monthly Income Statement of branches and take corrective action in regard to inter alia turnover, profit and expenses at least monthly or more frequently if required.
- Report on financial matters to the Executive Operations as per policy.
- Manage stock by means of correct order quantities, stock control and management of working capital.
- Ensure that the BM takes immediate corrective action pertaining to shrinkage, waist and claims.
Ensure the following is adhered to at branches:
- Production sheets procedures
- Morning inspections are done daily.
- Daily stock takes done and corrective action plans and feedback given to the Executive.
- Monitor customer service and ensure immediate corrective action.
- All cash related procedures are adhered too, e.g. cash up, till pick up, banking, main and till float procedures, recons timely posting, communication of all documentation to head office, etc.
Sales Promotion
- Ensure that all sales promotions are properly planned, advanced selection of products done, stock investments justified and projected turnover and budgets are met.
- Analyze market trends and plan accordingly in consultation with BMs and the Executive Operations.
- Identify sales opportunities regarding new products and advise the BM and Executive Operations on these.
Merchandising and Housekeeping
- Train and guide the BMs to ensure that merchandising is done per policy – attractive availability.
- Train and guide BMs with shop layout and forward cover
- Proper range of products is always available to customers.
- Regular and continued stock rotation.
Branch Managers
- Train BMs and ensure they are trained as per their job descriptions.
- Identify skills shortages, conduct and co-ordinate training of BMs in co-operation with the Executive Operations and HR
- Manage discipline in respect of BM, counsel BMs and initiate at disciplinary hearings where required.
Risk Control, Health, Safety and Environment (SHE)
Ensure that:
- BMs and staff comply with Health, Safety and Environment (SHE) Regulations.
- Scrutinize the minutes of Health, Safety and Environment meetings and ensure corrective action. Ensure that standards are maintained.
Asset Management
- Ensure that BMs control and manage all assets of the Company and report any problems to the Executive Operations immediately.
- Ensure proper recording, maintenance and control of all assets by BMs.
Employment Relations
- Promote sound Industrial Relations.
- Resolve employee conflict pro-actively.
General
- Do regular branch inspections.
- Perform any other duties as reasonably requested or assigned.

Qualifications
- Grade 12
Experience
- Branch management experience in retail or similar working environment of at least 5 years, of which 3 were at senior management level.
- Extended exposure to financial reporting documentation
