OVERALL AIM AND SUMMARY OF JOB
Assist with research, selecting and purchasing the right stock at the right prices to ensure that gross profit and sales targets are achieved. Build advantageous relationships with suppliers and negotiate with them for the best pricing.
KRA’s
STOCK ORDERS
- Assist with ranging of items/products per store groups.
- Negotiate best prices for products and general merchandise.
- Negotiate promo deals and cycle deals.
- Verify order quantities against usage and system recommendations.
- Search and compare alternative/ competitive prices.
- Ensure 100% stock availability on 80/20 principle for normal and promotional lines
- Assist with maintaining GP and Turnover: Budget vs Actual
CATEGORY MANAGEMENT
- Monitor GP per category vs Budget and take corrective action if need be.
- Do presentations on performance, GP, Turnover, etc.
- Compile action plans and enforce execution.
- Monitor top selling lines in all stores to ensure accuracy of average purchases per unit (APU’s) and stock cover to optimize sales and stockholding as per Company targets.
- Assist with managing margin mix within category.
SUPPLIER RELATIONS
- Build and maintain conducive relationships with suppliers.
- Motivate to the Procurement Manager the listing of new suppliers based on price, service and quality.
- Advise the Procurement Manager on the delisting of suppliers or products.
DATABASE ADMINISTRATION
- Ensure all listings are accurately captured.
- Regularly scrutinize listings to avoid double and/or incorrect data.
- Ensure all relevant stock information is accurately captured and available for extraction by the branches and the e-mail system is operational.

LISTINGS
- Assist with new listings, loading of average purchases per unit (APU’s) and models on existing and new products.
- Ensure all new products are listed and captured on the computer system.
- Ensure price lists are updated regularly and made available timeously for implementation.
JOB AND PERSON SPECIFICATION
Qualifications
- Grade 12
- A tertiary qualification in Procurement or Logistics
- A marketing degree will be an added advantage
